Day 4 in Yellowknife, North West Territories

Well Day 4 started out alright, overcast on the cool side and dry. By 8:30 it was raining, still cold and windy. Since we hadn't done any boat fishing we had planned to go out today. So off we headed out. Leaving from Yellowknife bay right beside Giant Mine, which I have to say is a old abandon mine that when it is dry I am going back to photograph. So by the time us guys got our shit together we headed out on the water around 11:30 or so, the water conditions was a little wavy and choppy and if the alarm on the boat would have been quiet for the trip out it wold have been great. Capitan Marc did a great job getting us almost to the ice line, we decided to cut it short because of the weather and we sort of took shelter on the lea side of a small island. We dropped line and floated around and then the wind picked up out of no where which made us pull the lines in and head on back to shore. It was a great time even know we didn't fish very much, and we skunked Taylor for the first time this trip ;)

Back home we got warmed up and well I started to read a book and with the rain hitting the window and being up too late and then to early I fell asleep, I think it was for about 2 hours but not really sure. The family was nice enough to wake me up to let me know we were going out for dinner to Bullocks Bistro, where the motto is:

Walking int o this place was like nothing else, the wait staff depending on the day will swear at you tell you to stuff it or other choice phrases that start with an F. Up until last year you grabbed you own beer from the cooler and you still have to get your own pop. Elke greats you with a smile and tells you that the service is going to be slow and if you ask you might not get served. Sitting waiting for the drinks to come you can't help but look around at all the different items on the wall, your typical mounted fish but surrounding the fish and pictures of some famous people are sayings and peoples name from all over the world because with your drink order you get a black sharpies to write your favorite saying group name or just your own name any where you can find space. Taylor ended up putting his stamp on an antler of a Caribou hat rack that greats you as you walk in the door of the unheated open kitchen bistro I have ever been in. A long wide bar flanks the open kitchen on top of this bar is not just beer and peanuts, but a bowl of garlic a pitcher of olive oil and all the special rubs and herbs Renata uses on the best tasting fresh fish I have ever tasted. The fish comes off the boat from great slave lake which is about 300 feet from the front door of the bistro, let me tell you they don't skimp out on anything.

Here is a sample of the fish pan fried up for Robbie. Did I mention they only had two types of food on the menu FISH and Muskox Steak.

The above is the fishermen catch and again I will have to clear up the names of the two fish tomorrow. I know I have the best meat I think I have ever tried, for those who know me they know I will try anything once, i have had fish before but never like this so i decide to take on the Muskox steak (which I have to add Renata sort of forgot to cook for me and we only figured it out till everyone else had there food, BIT my god was it worth the wait!!!

I have never tasted a steak of anything that was so smooth would be the best way to describe it the fries and salad were good but the meat I would die for it, I hope this helps get my point across..... ummmmmmmmm can you taste it?

Well that is enough I will let you enjoy the rest of the photos which because if the weather are not very many but here they are.
